TDR (Time Domain
Reflectometer)
A time-domain reflectometer (TDR) is an electronic instrument used to characterize and locate faults in metallic cables (for example, twisted wire pairs, coaxial cables) and, in the OTDR flavor, optical fibers.
TDR is used for:
-
Preventive maintenance of telecom lines
-
Reveal growing resistance levels on joints and
conectors
-
Disovery corrode and increasing insulation
leakage when cable degrades and absorbs moisture
-
Open circuit, short circuit, high resistant, low
resistant faults
